The Oakeshott typology was a system of sword classification created by Ewart Oakeshott to help classify different types of medieval sword into different groups and/or types (Types X-XXII). This classification helped trace the functionality and design of medieval swords across five centuries of use. This sword is based off his Type XIV, which were shorter, lighter blades that relied primarily on cutting in order to combat plate mail during the 14th century.
This sword is sourced from the Red Dragon Armoury and is made from tempered EN42J spring steel and can be used for sparring and other practiced fighting.
