Robert de Brus
Robert the Bruce, also known as Robert de Brus or Robert I, was King of Scotland from 1306 until his death in 1329. He is today considered a Scottish National Hero for his victories against the English in the First Scottish War of Independence. He was an extremely skilled warrior in his time.
It is unclear exactly what caused his death at age 54, but it is said he died having completed his life’s wish – recognition of the Bruce’s right to the crown. His body is buried at Dunfermline Abbey.
This sword was designed by skilled Edinburgh sword-maker John Barnett, who also handmade several of the swords in our range.
