Product Description
Said to have been the greatest swordsmen of his time, Lancelot du Lac was a Knight of the Round Table and one of King Arthur’s closest companions. Many stories believe he was raised by the Lady of the Lake within the faerie realm, and upon reaching adulthood, he was blessed to join King Arthur in his campaigns.
He was first mentioned in passing as one of Arthur’s knights in Chretien de Troyes’s 12th century poem Erec and Enide, it was not until a later story (Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart) where he first evolves into the character many know. This is also the first reference to his adultery with Queen Guinevere.
